Location

Grand Cayman

Cayman Islands’ experience with desalination started in the early 1970’s when they realized that they could no longer rely on rainfall and ground water only for their supply of drinking water. The growth in tourism began to drive  development in Grand Cayman at an ever increasing rate. With the influx of a growing expatriate workforce, the permanent population began to rapidly increase and so did the demand for potable water. In 1973 the Cayman Water Company (a Consolidated Water Co. Ltd. Subsidiary) was established to provide water and waste water services to a large private development, Governor’s Harbour. Cayman's rapid economic growth demands a high quality of service, which the Water Authority of the Cayman Islands and Cayman Water Company are proudly able to deliver.
