John Thompson is a qualified engineer from the U.K. He has made the Caribbean his home for the last 20 years having previously been intermittently in the region since 1986. He holds chartered engineer status in the United Kingdom and fellow status with the U.K. based Institution of Mechanical Engineers and U.K. based Energy Institute. He is also a registered engineer in Europe and Trinidad & Tobago with over thirty years experience of contracts in the process industry including water treatment. His technical skills are supplemented by a postgraduate degree in Business Management from Cranfield University, which was gained through the grant of an engineering fellowship by the Engineering Industry Training Board in the UK. John joined the Desalination Company of Trinidad & Tobago Limited (Desalcott) after nearly twenty years with George Wimpey and successor companies (the latest being Carillion) where as Projects Director he ran their process, energy and industrial sector work in the Caribbean. This included involvement in the water sector through the Severn Trent/Carillion joint venture agreement for the interim operation of the Water and Sewerage Authority in Trinidad & Tobago also through process plant feedwater treatment by ion exchange and reverse osmosis. He previously worked for UK engineering company, John Brown Engineers and Constructors Ltd, having started his career, initially as an undergraduate apprentice, with Rolls-Royce. Following being Project Director for Desalcott during construction of the Point Lisas Desalination Plant, John was confirmed as General Manager in 2002 and continues in this position to date with the Plant currently undergoing a major expansion.

Manuel Pereira is Co-founder of CaribDA together with Humphrey Gouverneur and has been appointed as the first Secretary. After the first election, he became the first Treasurer (2008-2010). In 2010 he became the President and unanimous re-elected in 2012 for a second period. As President he became a member of the Board of Directors of the IDA. He has represented CaribDA at several Congresses and has been promoting CaribDA in the region. He has a degree Mechanical Engineering of the University of the Netherlands Antilles followed by a 2 years special training in The Netherlands. He is fluent in 5 languages; English, Dutch, Spanish, Papiamento and Portuguese. He has a total of 25 years experience in The Netherlands and the Caribbean. Joined Aqualectra, Curacao Water and Power Company, in 1998 where he was involved in several Desalination new projects and upgrades. In 2010 he has been promoted to Manager of Projects Bureau where he was responsible for all projects in the Water and in the Power division of Aqualectra. From 2014 he is heading new department Improvement Engineering.

Pauls love for the Caribbean began early during his childhood years growing up in idyllic Jamaica.. His connection with the Caribbean has strengthened throughout the years by creating and maintaining a wide network of friends and associates in the region. Combining his regional connections with his other passion desalination has been an extra delight for Paul. Prior to joining Water Standard in 2011 as Senior Vice President, Paul served as Vice President with Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies for 6 years, where he led the development and execution of multiple projects in the industrial and municipal markets. Before Veolia acquired Weir Techna, Paul was Technas regional Vice President for the Americas where, under his direction, his team contracted and constructed multiple water treatment projects for offshore oil and gas facilities. Pauls experience also includes 19 years at MECO where he was responsible for providing support to over 250 desalination installations. While at MECO, Paul developed and executed some of the first successful membrane desalination plants in the Middle East. There he also led international business development, developing industrial, predominately Oil & Gas, projects and was responsible for developing MECOs marine business which included expanding their capabilities into the offshore oil & gas market and to providing services to the US Navy. Paul has now formed Water Cycle, combining his 36 years of experience and his extensive contacts to provide the best solutions to the water industry.

David Maingot is the Regional Sales Manager for the Americas & the Caribbean at LG Water Solutions, a leading manufacturer of reverse osmosis (RO) membranes for desalination. David has over nine years of experience in the water and waste water treatment industries, focused in the Latin America and Caribbean markets. During his five years with LG Water Solutions, he has retrofitted numerous seawater RO plants with the company's thin-film nanocomposite membranes, leading to significant energy savings and/or increased production throughout the region. David was born in Venezuela of Trinidadian parentage and his multicultural/multilingual background services him well in his regional endeavors. David holds a BA in Economics from the University of Florida and currently lives with his family in Coral Springs, Florida. David has been a CaribDA board member since 2014.

Ms. Boodhan is a Senior Instructor (Physics) at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) and a PhD candidate (Physics) at the University of the West Indies (UWI). With over seven years of experience in Desalination and over nine in Renewable Energy, her current area of expertise is solar distillation. Monica received her M.Phil. and B.Sc. in Physics from the UWI where she also served as project manager for the EU-funded DIREKT project. Over the years Ms. Boodhan has successfully completed numerous training courses in the areas of Renewable Energy, Desalination, Water Treatment, Smart Grids, Modelling and other courses related to Research and Teaching. Additionally, she has served as a trainer in Solar Energy at various workshops across the Caribbean and Bangladesh and has worked on several renewable energy projects. Her work has been published internally and she has authored articles and participated in local and international panel discussions on energy. Ms. Boodhan is the inaugural co-chair for the CaribDAs Young Leaders Programme and she is the Regional Coordinator (Latin America Caribbean) and membership chair for the International Desalination Associations Young Leaders Program (IDA-YLP).

Jerry Matteo is President of Water Tech Sales and Consulting, Inc., head-quartered in Puerto Rico. Shawn was Sr. Vice President - Director of Business Development for Seven Seas Water Corporation, a leading water treatment service provider in the Caribbean and Latin America, From Jan 2003 through May 2007 Shawn was Sr. Vice President of Marketing & Sales for Energy Recovery Incorporated, the worlds leading energy recovery device manufacturer. He was responsible for sales, marketing and service worldwide. He has held numerous positions over a 12 year career at Ionics Incorporated from 1990 to 2002, during which time period was the largest membrane based water treatment company in the world. Roles included Manager of International Operations, General Sales Manager, Product Manager, Process Design and Development Engineer, as well as positions in R&D and Product Development. Shawn is presently VP of board of directors of the CaribDA and the on the IDA board of directors. He has held chairs, served on panels, as well as written and presented numerous papers in industry conferences including the IDA, WME , EDS, Water in Mining, the CWWA,CAWASA, Association of California Water Agencies, Asociación Española de Desalación y Reutilización, as well as published in leading industry publications. Shawn has worked throughout the world and is conversant in Spanish and has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston.

Mrs. Karlene Singh joined Consolidated Water Co. Ltd.'s engineering team in August 2006, serving as the Company's Operations/Project Engineer. She currently fills a dual-role as the Business Development - Project Engineer for the Engineering and Business Development Departments.
