He has been involved with the water treatment sector for 30 years and has brought hundreds of projects to successful completion in over 55 countries. From Jan 2008 to June 2013 Shawn was Sr. Vice President - Director of Business Development for Seven Seas Water Corporation, a leading water as a service provider in the Americas. From Jan 2003 through May 2007 Shawn was Sr. Vice President of Marketing & Sales for Energy Recovery Incorporated, the worlds leading energy recovery device manufacturer. Shawn enjoyed a 12 year career at Ionics Incorporated (acquired by GE and now part of SUEZ) from 1990 to 2002, during which time was the largest membrane-based water treatment company in the world. From 1998 to 2002 Shawn was General Sales Manager for the Southern US and the Caribbean, whose business center became the most profitable in the company. As Manager of International Operations (1994 to1998) he directed a global team of over 85 field engineers responsible for technical sales support, installation, operation and service of hundreds of millions of dollars of Ionics equipment. From 1990 to 1994 he enjoyed positions as Product Manager (where he led development of Ionics first standardized SWRO line), Process Design and Development Engineer (where he was part of an elite team responsible for optimizing Ionics processes and plants) and in R&D (where he developed Ionics superlife electrode which significantly reduced EDR plant operating costs). Shawn was President of board of directors of the Caribbean Desalination Association (CaribDA) from 2018 2020 and has been an active board members since 2009. He founded the CaribDA Humanitarian Committee and Young Leaders Program and has chaired, served on panels, as well as written and presented numerous papers in industry conferences including and has published in leading industry publication. He is also on the editorial board of Water: Desalination + Reuse Journal. Shawn is conversant in Spanish, speaks some German, Dutch and Papiamento. Shawn has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston.

She currently fills a dual-role as the Business Development - Project Engineer for the Engineering and Business Development Departments. Her responsibilities include supporting the design and construction of new Seawater Reverse Osmosis plants, expansions and upgrades of the Company's existing operations, and all aspects of sales and marketing activities. Monica Boodhan is a Senior Instructor (Physics) at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) and a PhD candidate at the University of the West Indies (UWI). With nine years of experience in Desalination and ten in Renewable Energy, her specialization is Solar Distillation. Monica received her MPhil and BSc in Physics from the UWI. As project manager for the EU-funded DIREKT project, she served as a trainer in Solar Energy at various workshops across the Caribbean and Bangladesh. Monica completed numerous training courses in the fields of Renewable Energy, Desalination, Water Treatment, GIS, Smart Grids and other courses related to Research, Teaching and Data Modelling. Monica is currently a Director of the CaribDA; co-chair of the Young Leaders Programme (YLP) and a member of the Publications and Humanitarian Committees. Additionally, she is the Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean for the International Desalination Associations YLP.

Mr. Mario Bento has over 30 years experience in water and wastewater treatment in North America and the Caribbean. He is currently the managing director of Caribbean Water Treatment Ltd. based in Antigua. The company specializes in water and wastewater treatment services, serving commercial, industrial and utility customers in Antigua and the Eastern Caribbean. Mr. Bento holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto and a Masters in Environmental Systems Engineering from McMaster University in Canada. Prior to returning to Antigua, Mr. Bento worked for four years as a process development engineer for Zenon Environmental Inc. in Canada, a worldwide leader in the development and manufacture of membrane based systems for water and wastewater treatment.

Liliana Munoz joined IDE in 2014 as Sales and Business Development Manager for Latin America, responsible for development of new business platforms in target markets, including small-to-large-scale membrane and thermal desalination solutions and industrial water treatment solutions. She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Pontifical Bolivarian University in Colombia .In her position prior to IDE, Liliana worked with a water treatment chemical company focused on membrane technologies where she developed her passion for desalination and water reuse. She has written papers on membrane autopsies and scaling solutions for Reverse Osmosis and is an enthusiastic technical trainer/speaker in the field. She is a business driver whose entrepreneurial instincts and clarity of vision carried multiple companies through rapid and continuous growth. Travelling through the world, she has visited and helped several of the largest desalination plants to solve technical problems with their membrane equipment. On a personal level, Liliana values creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, commitment, openness and leadership and brings these qualities to every position she holds.

I have an academic background blended with years of hands-on real life field experience; complimented with proactive thinking, solution orientated approach using innovative engineering methods to bring about the best results for any given situation. I have worked at the St. Vincent electrical services for 10 years and the Mustique Company ltd. for 18 years. I am currently the head of the utility and renewable energy department. The island of Mustique is a small island averaging 1400 acres but most of the water is produced using reverse osmosis desalination plants. We have several desalination plants on the island that are operated and maintained locally.

Bill Staby is co-founder and CEO of Boston-based Resolute Marine which is developing technologies that harness ocean wave energy to provide clean water for off-grid communities in developing countries and island nations. Resolute currently has projects under development in two countries on the African continent. Bill serves on the board of the World Ocean Council and is a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the University of North Carolina Coastal Studies Institute. He is Chair of the U.S. delegation to IEC TC-114 in Geneva, Switzerland where he assists in the development of international standards and certification protocols for the marine renewable energy industry. Earlier in his career, Bill was an investment banker at Rabobank and Prudential Securities where he led its food and agribusiness industry advisory team. Subsequently, Bill joined several start-up organizations as CFO and co-founder before founding Resolute Marine in 2007. Bill received his MBA from NYU and has completed executive education courses at Harvard and MIT.
