On August 24, 2015, Tropical Storm Erika caused devastating loss of life and destruction of property on the island of Dominica. CHTA would like to convey sincere condolences to the people of Dominica for the heavy toll that the storm has taken.
With over 12 inches of rain falling within a 12-hour period, flooding and mudslides washed away infrastructure and property on the island-nation of approximately 72,000 people. Today there are significant numbers of displaced people who have lost their homes, and many communities remain inaccessible as a result of destruction to roads and bridges.
For a full assessment of the impact of Erika and current needs visit the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).

|Subject:||Assistance for Dominica|
The CEO has asked for support in terms of pipe fitters, plumbers as well as Engineering expertise to assist with damage assessment and systems redesign among other things. We are also liaising with other agencies who are trying to provide support. DOWASCO will arrange accommodation for those persons who are available and willing to assist. Please let us know if any specific support can be provided to Dominica.
As we make this appeal for support, we trust we can count on the generosity of persons who are willing to assist.
Please let us know and we thank you in advance.
