CaribDA Members and Contacts,
Thank you for your very positive response to our mailers to help us identify the most urgent needs in the greater Caribbean that have been effected by Hurricanes Irene and Maria. We have the
following two priorities which we would like to solicit assistance in providing the identified equipment to the projects.
- IMMEDIATE NEED: Main Hospital in Dominica has a fair amount of injured and no running water. There is a river nearby but it is turbid and contaminated due to the storm. The owner of Caribbean Water Treatment, Mario Bento was contacted directly to try and help on an urgent matter. There is electrical generating capacity at the hospital. We will like to ask if any of our member organizations has a small scale Prefiltration/UF or MF unit and/or a small scale potable storage (bladder tank) to treat the water to potable on site and ship the units to Antigua to coordinate with CWT (Mr. Mario Bento) and APUA (Mr. Ivan Rodrigues). APUA and CWT have access to piping and small pumps for distribution to the hospital and can coordinate shipping and assembly. If anyone has and can make available a small UF and MF unit, and or bladder tank please contact one of the below HC members at your earliest convenience.
- In the next 7-14 days: The membranes on the SWRO plant on Barbuda are all damaged from the storm. We will seek an emergency set of replacement of 24 SWRO membranes from our membership and coordinate with APUA (Mr. Ivan Rodrigues) to ship to Antigua for transport to Antigua for shipment to Barbuda and installation. If any of our member organizations has SWRO membranes they can provide to Barbuda, please contact one of the below HC members.
Sincere thanks in advance,
